This was a gigantic video that gave 7 keys to Time Management. They are excellent in their hold good, but because the video is only 60 minutes long it doesn’t go into considerable detail as to how. Because I have read 2 books of hers the information was more of a “oh yeah, that’s apt” to me, instead of a stamp novel belief.

That being said, it’s enormous because she does indeed pack a lot of subpoints into an hour under the main 7 keys. Also, there is a 30 small Q & A time under the main menu where she interacts with the PBS audience. So really the DVD is more like 90 minutes. She doesn’t give many visuals, so I can multitask while she’s talking (a mountainous no-no to her) .

All in all, a splendid reminder video. I wouldn’t pay more than $10. I would choose a book, however, because there is grand more information there.

I needed a video to help my lecture on Time Management in a speed. I basically bought this gape unseen, brilliant small about the series and presenter. In the first 5 minutes I concept I bought something too soft, but then it did a complete turnaround and captivated all 30 of my students.

Gaining the interest of 1st and 2nd year college students is not always the easiest thing to do. I was surprised, however, at how many stopped and made obvious comments on the plan out the door. I would definitely recommend this video to anyone wanting to learn more about managing their time and life.

I saw this movie in the theatre on opening night. I level-headed devour watching it. The acting in this movie is immense, and the storyline is top notch as well. I consider the movie represents the attitudes in runt town America as they were. I know of many cases in genuine life that were a lot like this region, but in sincere life the protagonists faired worse than Kevin Bacon. I have heard a lot of awful reviews about this movie from people who perceive it today. Mostly because it is a “white” film with almost no racial diversity considering the subject matter. Well, you have to scrutinize at the social and cultural context in which the film was made to launch with. I happened to live in a shrimp colorado town during my teen years and HELLO we only had 1 shadowy family in the town. That was reality, as it was in many minute towns. And as for the music, mind you, this was about 4 years before the forthcoming of the rudimentary forms of rap and hip hop. Micheal Jackson had more white fans than dismal, and most blacks listened to rock and roll. You cannot believe this film by recent standards and do it justice. I assume that if you support an commence mind you will be pleased this film a astronomical deal.

I loved footloose in the 80’s and I composed admire it now! It is definitely a classic, along with Top Gun. This movie will always be one of the best – Kevin Bacon was improbable! The soundtrack is huge, too!

“I’ve read a few reviews on 9 songs and one thing they all seem to agree upon is that the movie has no chronicle. I can’t disagree with them. There isn’t worthy of a account, but if you pay attention you do reach at some gripping conclusions.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream 9 songs – Unrated Full Uncut Version! Click Here

“The location of the movie can be boiled down to this, boy and girl meet at a, Sad Rebel Motorcycle Club, rock concert and go to his wonderful and f*ck. Another concert and another roll in the hay. With some minute exceptions this is the modus operandi for nine concerts.”

“Matt is a scientist, a glaciologist and Lisa is a visiting American college student. Matt tried to hold up with Lisa, but I got the impression that he was overmatched, with Lisa, whom I belief was an excitement junkie. She was also more into experimentation. At one point one point Matt went home by himself as she stayed with a woman.”

“I couldn’t figure out why the sex scenes seemed so well done – almost precise. Then, as the movie progressed it became distinct. The bathtub scene with Matt and Lisa, the only actors in the movie, gave me the first clue. With Matt (Kieran O’Brien) leaning abet on one side of the tub and Lisa (Margo Stilley) on the other, she uses her feet to massage his erect penis in fleshy plan of the viewers. That was about halfway through the movie and was only the beginning. Each sex scene thereafter, became increasing more explicit.”

“After about three months of loyal rock concerts and sex, Lisa tells Matt that she will soon be going attend to America. Matt is crushed, so that afternoon Lisa cheers him up by … how can I say this? Blowing him! The viewer gets to seek the whole episode, unbiased like a porn movie. She sucks on him for about thirty seconds and then cuts away to a long opinion of Matt, ejaculating on himself.”

“On the day she is scheduled to leave, the spectator is presented a vision of the couple having intercourse including distinct thought of phallic penetration.”

“Speaking of the rock concerts, rock music fans, especially fans of British bands may be fervent in the bands of the various concerts. I managed to dig seven of them out – they are:”

* Super Furry Animals

* The Dandy Warhol

* Franz Ferdinand

* Elbow

* Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

* The Von Bondies

* Primal Scream

Conclusion

“What one might win out of this movie depends upon what one’s expectations are. No, it doesn’t have grand of a narrative, but I notion the overall product was sharp and very watchable. The movie was realistic in everyway (not objective the sex) and earthy. The acting by the two actors was really something to seek and so was the cinematography.”

“It should be pointed out that the writer, producer, director of 9 Songs, felt there was a double standard regarding reading material vs film. He idea, since many erotic and even mainstream stories are extremely graphic, why can’t mainstream movies also depict graphic sex. In comparison to the demonstrate day trend of filthy degrading pornographic films, 9 songs must seem extremely tame. Smooth, it is a broad leap forward in sexuality from the average humdrum, poorly done soft-core movie. Therefore, I’m going against the grain, and giving the movie 4 stars.”

Some might reflect this movie prurient, while to others it will seem sweetly nostalgic. Anyone who is looking at this review will already know that 9 Songs is notorious for its full-on sex scenes. Some, however, will not be aware that it really is about the nature of memory and the waking-up to ordinary life’s intangible fleeting beauty.

The main character is a British glaciologist through whose eyes, metaphorically, one “remembers” a relationship a glorious, egotistical, careless, charming, and crazy woman, not unlike the young women young men meet from time to time and with whom men try (unsuccessfully) to have a temporally enduring relationship.

Matt (Kieran O’Brien) is an ugly-handsome winsome working-class bloke made grand in Tony Blair’s Original Britain. Lisa (Margot Stilley) is an American, obviously from what is called a “genuine family”, curvaceously slim, statuesque (about two inches taller than Matt), educated, and unserious about both her relationship with Matt and her job. As for her “job”, though we don’t perceive worthy of it at all, it’s obviously objective a time-marking “playing about with typewriters and latchkeys and calling it work”, as EM Forster called the occupations of upper middle class twenty-somethings who receive regular checks from the family assist home. She a good-looking 21 year extinct American woman in London with time on her hands, and a liking for men.

Glaciology is a key thematic element in 9 Songs. Antarctica is a metaphor for one’s memory. The snow laid down in the center of the continent becomes ice, trapping bubbles of air inside it. Those bubbles are the continent’s “memory” of the weather on a positive day, a determined year. As more and more ice is laid down at the center, the earlier deposits recede inecluctably toward the sea, there to be “calved” become bergs, and finally melt, leaving no brand gradual.

Apart from Antarctica, there’s not a lot more than performances by bands like the Dandy Warhols, Neat Furry Animals, and so forth. Nine songs sung in really fun-looking London venues, to be dependable, and, of course, the noted scenes of the couple making adore. The lovemaking is more inferred than depicted ofttimes, but taken as a whole one would doubt that there is even a square centimetre of the protagonists’ anatomies that is not unmistakably displayed in all its glory for all the world to view in this movie. The sex, for the most allotment, has a quality of warmly relational authenticity that anyone could gape as very definite from exploitative porn. As a result, the viewer seldom feels terribly voyeuristic, but rather the director seeks for the viewer to experience a reflective nostalgia, redolent of times past – which is, of course, a function of memory.

HOWEVER, the title of the film does not, I consider, refer merely to the “songs” sung by the bands. My hold theory is that the auteur, Michael Winterbottom, is alluding to the Chinese 13th century Yuan Dynasty cycle of poems, The Nine Songs, which is in many respects about the Shamanic quest. “Similar to the mature shaman of Siberia, Central Asia and the Arctic, the wu enters into a trance residence in performing ceremonies. However, unlike his northern counterparts, the Chinese shaman enters into a fleeting cherish relationship with the God (or Goddess) .” [taken from Zekeriyah's friendly review of the book of the same name on this site]

You study, this film is not only about memory, and what a guy remembers about a relationship with a woman he has loved (which guys being who they are, is mostly the perceived high points, like going to shows and making cherish), but 9 Songs also seems to be an extended metaphor for the Shamanic quest, which in the extinguish requires union with the mysterious Beloved other, the mythological dakini, who both enlivens and kills her lover simultaneously and then simply disappears into the sky, and leaves tedious (there’s that word, memory, again) as her gift a precious, elusive realization of the ugly-beautiful reality of things-as-they-are.

With that in mind, leer this movie. It’s not really about sex.

This movie is getting a surprising amount of disapprove and I don’t know why. There is very exiguous in the scheme of violence, even less in the arrangement of sex and even the gross-out jokes are kept device below what is usually the minimum level for comedies lately. The abominable guys pick up around the mall with mountain bikes, skate boards and by utilizing some impressive parkour moves. Clearly this movie was meant for the PG crowd and in that it succeeds. It’s a nice tidy family comedy that everyone can benefit and bask in. There were lots of families in the theater when I saw this movie and they all seemed to have a fair helpful time. They laughed and giggled and there was very diminutive of the bored chatter you hear sometimes at kids/family movies.

I was thinking a microscopic about the John Candy movie Summer Rental after I saw this. Candy played a few different roles in films before he did Summer Rental but that movie is where you gawk the classic John Candy affable lug character that kind of served as a template for most of his following roles. His characters were usually some variation of that, he did it well and people loved it. Kevin James has a similar likable quality and I’m hoping that maybe he picks up the Easy Going Favorable Guy mantle where John Candy left it.

To paraphrase Paul Blart himself, “Don’t write this movie off.” Like I said, there were plenty of scenes that had both kids and adults laughing together. Isn’t it worth at least the brand of a matinee sign to laugh for a while with your kids?

I had my reservations going in to notice this one, but it was surprisingly humorous and didn’t have to expend considerable gross-out, potty humor or profanity that seems to be pervading many comedies these days in attempts to humor people. Instead, there was more slapstick style humor, and while it is the classic lovable loser meets girl scenario (except at the mall) and has its predictable moments, over all it was a gorgeous decent comedy.

King of Queens star Kevin James plays Paul Blart, a long time mall security guard who is a bit lonely in life because of failed relationships. When he sees a blooming woman working in the mall, he tries to figure out a intention to connect with her, but his awkwardness gets in the blueprint of his progress. Training a current mall security guard isn’t what it seems to be, as this supposed high school dropout turns out to be the brains unhurried a massive robbery and hostage state. It is up to Paul Blart, the only one who takes his job too seriously, to try and build the day.

The first fragment of the movie was silly, but some of the gags were awkward at times (trying too hard to be amusing) . What James brought to the character Blart was kind of a Chris Farley/John Candy kind of persona. I conception that the later half of the film was better, even though as usual you have to throw reason out the window.

Not too poor of a film, and dare I say, it might even be one you could rob a date to peek.

The main explain in this DVD is A paddle to China. In it Kai lan and her friends board a plane and wing to China to meet Kai Lan’s aunt and a baby Panda. Of course it is a cartoon, so there are no realistic scenes in it from China, but it does point to a runt about the cultural inequity. Eating noodles and putting on slippers in the house. It also has a fragment with the celebrated changing of the camouflage. The raze has a lot of fireworks (which were invented in China) .

The legal lesson is about trying fresh things, and it thankfully does not have the really negative behavior or actions like some of the other episodes.

The meeting the pandas is not realistic b/c it is a family that lives together and of course they talk — but my puny one (2 years passe) loved it because they introduced the panda as a bao bao. Which is her Chinese nickname. The main Mandarin word taught is Pleased and there is a limited song about it that has the word Contented through out it.

The other 2 episodes are Rain or Shine and The Ant Playground.

We are a bi-racial family and have really wanted our child to learn Chinese along with English. Kai Lan truly has sparked her interest. She is 4. She is constantly coming up to us and asking us how do you say “—-” in Chinese. She also tells us words in Chinese that she learned from Kai Lan. She loves watching this movie and insists on watching it at least twice a day. She also now loves learning Chinese. I have every contrivance of buying all the Kai Lan movies and/or books as they have been a tremendous plus in helping our child learn Chinese.

The video quality of Criterion’s DVD version of SPELLBOUND discs ogle a bit sharper, more detailed, but grainier than Anchor Bay’s re-pressed version from 2000 (in which the flash-of-red color shot was restored) . The audio quality of Criterion’s 1.0 mono soundtrack is also a minute more detailed and more obvious than Anchor Bay’s 2.0 mono track. The Anchor Bay disc also sounds remarkable louder, but there are audio distortions in a few places. The soundtrack of the Criterion disc (and many DVDs) was recorded at a worthy lower volume level, which is usually an misfortune to preserve as grand as possible the dynamic range of the source material. The Criterion DVD booklet says the film’s novel overture and exit music has been included on the disc for the first time. This is simply not correct, for the re-pressed Anchor Bay disc also has the overture and exit music. The initial pressing of the Anchor Bay disc, in which the red-color shot is erroneously shown in B&W, does not have the overture and exit music, however.

Although SPELLBOUND helped solidify Hitchcock’s location in Hollywood, it isn’t one of his best films. But Marian Keane’s powerful analytical audio commentary on the Criterion disc should heighten your appreciation of the film. Keane juxtaposes the themes in the film against the manner in which Hitchcock made his films and the manner in which we, the viewers, contemplate them, and suggests that they are somehow interrated. She points out that many Hitchcock films (including SPELLBOUND) are about people who catch pleasure in watching and analyzing other people, which is also the very thing that we, the viewers, do when we see such films. As in her commentary for the Distinguished DVD, she injects an extra layer of significance within the film by refering to obvious elements in the film as “surrogate authors,” “scriptwriting sessions,” and “director’s assertion of his authorship.” Keane single-mindedly concentrates on the interpretation, deconstruction, and theorization on the subject of Hitchcock, and the result is one of the most noteworthy dissertations ever recorded on DVD. I give 4 stars to the film itself, but 5 to Keane.

I give 5 stars to the supplements on the Criterion disc as well, like I routinely do. There is a amazing, rather detailed photo-essay segment on the making of the Dali sequence. Two film clips of the surrealist film UN CHIEN ANDALOU is included! to exhibit some earlier inspirations for the SPELLBOUND dream sequence. Memos from the filmmakers and production photos point to how the dream sequence was re-shot several times due to logistic difficulties and artistic differences. There are also production photos of the deleted “ballroom” sub-sequence, in which Ingrid Bergman plays a statuesque figure bewildering Gregory Peck.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Spellbound! Click Here

Other extras include about 150 production and publicity photos, a half-hour audio interview of the film’s composer, a 7-minute radio program on the subject of theramin, a 1-hour radioplay version of SPELLBOUND, “memoir treatments” that exhibit how the current unique was loosely adapted into a filmmable chronicle, and other correspondences from psychoanalysts and Production Code officials who offered advices to the filmmakers. The booklet contains two very genuine essays; one is about the making of the film, while the other offers some artistic analyses (some of which echo Keane’s comments) .

SPELLBOUND was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and produced by David O. Selznick in 1945. As the narrative unravels it is essentially a destroy spot interwoven around psychiatrists and psychoanalysis. It is actually Alfred Hitchcock’s come to the legend and his collaborations with composer Miklos Rozsa and surrealist artist Salvador Dali that highlights this film. Gregory Peck plays John “J.B.” Ballantine who poses as a psychiatrist while in a status of amnesia. Uncovered by Dr. Constance Peterson played by Ingrid Bergman, Ballantine must accept out if he is responsible for the death of the missing psychiatrist that he posed as and simultaneously gape his absorb identity. Miklos Rozsa’s glean is both romantic yet eerie as Ballantine tries to remember what happened through analysis of his dreams. Alfred Hitchcock hired Salvador Dali to invent illustrations and paintings in order to gain a crisp and radiant rendering of these dreams. Hitchcock did not want to utilize mature techniques such as blurred camera shots to recreate the dreams. He wanted them to be as positive and even sharper than the rest of the film. He wanted Dali’s style of using shadows, lines of convergence and the understanding of infinite distance incorporated into the dream sequences. In the dream sequence we seek a sad stage highlighted with people at gambling tables with gigantic mysterious looking eyes peering over them. A man cuts away at the fabric of one spy with a giant scissors revealing another leer. In another section of the dream we notice a man standing on a roof slack a chimney that has sprouted roots. The hooded man holds what looks like a deformed or eccentric wagon wheel in his hand. In the distance there is a formation of rocks and boulders, which survey like they are sprouting into the shape of a man’s head. Another section of the dream shows a man running down a pitched geometric plane as the shadow of a bird follows him. In the background there are geometric shapes and lines that go off into infinity. All these images must be interpreted into experiences from reality. Dali’s images are unsettling and notion provoking. Eventually, the eccentric wagon wheel turns out to report the chambers of a revolver pistol and reveals the proper identity of the murderer. A surrealistic painting brings to the canvas an image from reality but puts it into a context of the unreal. I believe Dali was successful in translating the realistic elements from the place into a vision of incomprehensibility of the conscious human mind. Hitchcock and the scriptwriter Ben Hecht then had their characters translate Dali’s images attend into plausible reality. This is incandescent filmmaking years ahead of its time.

Normally I despise it when people (including myself) write reviews for DVDs that haven’t even approach out yet. But I’m so angry for the 2nd season of Arrested Development to reach out on DVD that I’m going to write one anyway! (Don’t difficulty, I’ll advance help and update the review once I actually derive the DVD.)

Buy,Download, Or Stream Arrested Development – Season Two! Click Here

This is, in my understanding, the funniest explain on television. My approved thing about this exhibit is how it is a “comedy for intellectual people.” If you like monotonous and “easy” humor, then there is probably unruffled some stuff in here that you’ll delight in… BUT if you like clever/witty humor, you’ll Admire this prove. The more you examine it, the more jokes you’ll understand and the more amusing the jokes will be. There are even jokes foreshadowing other jokes several episodes down the road (e.g. Buster’s “I never belief I’d miss a hand so noteworthy” when looking at his extinct hand chair in “Amigos”) . There’s no procedure you could ever secure everything on your first viewing, and that’s why the DVDs are so gigantic.

While the 1st season is improbable, I’d have to say that the 2nd season might be even better. The jokes unprejudiced withhold building (so it’s even funnier if you’ve seen the 1st season) . The running storyline of Tobias as an “on call” understudy of the blue man group is enormous… even at the extinguish of the season (well after that tale has ended) you can smooth notice blue smudges on everything in the house. The whole thing about Buster losing his hand is hilarious and contributes greatly to my well-liked episode of the season, “Motherboy XXX” (which has one of the funniest endings I’ve ever seen) . I could go on and on: the Veals, Gene Parmesan, Mrs. Featherbottom, GOB’s wife, Maeby’s job, “Scandalmakers”… it impartial never stops!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Arrested Development – Season Two! Click Here

FOX chop relieve this season’s new order of 22 episodes to only 18 (allegedly so they could introduce “American Dad”… but there are even jokes about the nick, like when the Bluth Company’s order for homes is slice from 22 to 18) . While it’s disappointing to consider we could have had four more episodes, I’m more than willing to trade those four episodes for a whole 3rd season. This is the funniest note on TV!

Over the past few years there has been worthy talk about the supposed death of the sitcom on network television. And if those preparing to mourn the genre judge Friends or its ilk to be the standard-bearer, than perhaps they are honest.

But maybe, impartial maybe, with Arrested Development we are seeing the future of the space comedy… and if that’s the case, things are looking up!

Arrested Development isn’t your standard “dwelling up a punch line, insist punch-line, listen to the studio audience scream” exhibit. In fact, rarely is there a location up or punchline, but rather keenly written and expertly delivered dialogue. And rather than the standard “Joey and Phoebe bag stuck in an elevator while Rachel and Monica conception Thanksgiving dinner” storylines, Arrested lets each episode unfold in an intricate and enthralling manner with humor that ranges from subtle to sublime.

The basic premise? We’re spending time with the Bluth family, who, to borrow a phrase, place the “fun” in dysfunctional. The characters range from maniacal (especially the Emmy-worthy turn by Jessica Walter as matriarch Lucille Bluth) to misguided (perhaps best exemplified by Will Arnett’s desperate-for-attention-at-any-cost Gob) . These aren’t cookie-cutter cardboard characters as you’ll gain on other comedies. Each is a spicy character leer, with flaws and faults and quirks unlike those seen in other television households.

Best of all – and perhaps the main reason to select the DVD – the exhibit is (gasp) laugh-out-loud comical and will be whether this is the first or one-hundred-and-first time you conception the episodes.

Comedy, boring? Not as long as the Bluth family are around!

Candyman starts out pedestrian enough. Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) is a graduate student attempting to wow her instructor while dealing with her cheating professor husband. Helen chooses the local urban anecdote Candyman to blow her teacher away. Being the detailed and dedicated researcher, she investigates the location where most of Candyman’s victims are found; the Cabrini Green housing project. Helen and her fellow student interview residents of the rundown apartment complex, discover an abandoned apartment that has been transformed into a shrine to the title character, and manufacture an novel bond with a young, struggling mother (Vanessa Williams) .

All proceeds as one would interrogate until a murderer using the Candyman tale as a shroud is caught by the police. Helen comforts a boy by telling him that the Candyman is not the boogeyman, fair a poor man trying to anxiety and cause hurt. This is the turning point of the movie.

By destroying the boy’s idea in Candyman, Helen invites the entity who describes his area as “to be but not to exist”. Candyman is because others fill in him. Helen has destroyed this so he must now revive his tale and resuscitate view in him. Helen encounters him in a parking garage where he commands her to “be my victim”. The next thing she knows, she is lying in the young mother’s apartment next to her tiring, dog with a bloody knife in her hand.

From this point Helen descends into madness with murders and a kidnapping surrounding her while her husband’s cheating ways are revealed. Eventually Candyman asks Helen to join her in the non-existence of memoir. To establish a child, Helen agrees and sacrifices her life so the child might live. The worst thing about the movie is a rather cheesy ending that confirms Helen’s entry into Urban Legend-hood.

Candyman is a well written thriller. It’s overabundance of gore overshadows the existential elements. All the actors manufacture their parts with aplomb. Virginia Madsen is more than believable as a woman on the edge of a breakdown, while Tony Todd was born to play the Candyman. His vast and imposing stature combined with a deep and creepy narrate can be truly unnerving at times. Forgive the ending and you have a sizable fear film.

Clive Barker’s Candyman was one of the finest apprehension films I have ever seen and one of my personal favorites. Writer-director Bernard Rose does an pleasant job of adapting a Barker epic into a masterpiece film that not only provides chills and scares, but also many issues of racism and vengeance.

The movie begins with a student telling Helen Lyle, played by the gorgeous and extremely talented Virginia Madsen, an urban sage about Candyman. You have to say his name five times in the mirror and he’ll appear and split you from the groin up. Helen is writing a thesis on urban legends and is particularly alive to in Candyman because of how so many people absorb in it. She and her friend, Bernadette, resolve to go investigate an apartment complex that was the place of murders that Candyman could be responsible for. That’s when a series of murders inaugurate to occur and Helen must try to figure out what’s actually going on.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Candyman! Click Here

Candyman is a rare movie in the nineties that mixes style with ideas. One of the film’s most disturbing scenes is when Virginia Madsen is drenched in blood, and is forced to strip her clothes off in front of a police officer. Subtle scenes like that are harder to buy than senseless bloody murders in slasher flicks. The acting in this film is also very grand. Madsen’s performance is one of the best I’ve ever seen in a apprehension film, easily rivaling Ellen Burstyn from The Exorcist. She begins the film as a non-believer, but is converted when she becomes the target of Candyman. By the final third of the film she must settle whether Candyman is valid or if she is going insane. Madsen is convincing through all these changes, and she certainly deserves more roles in films these days. Tony Todd also delivers a aesthetic performance as Candyman. Add to the film ample writing, directing, and soundtrack and you’ve got an instant classic. The film provides many questions. Where did Candyman arrive from? Is he actually accurate? Candyman’s ending is nothing short of unpredictable and surprising.

This DVD is very aptly named and I for one would highly recommend it… “The Ultimate DVD of Unusual Zealand” is as it says…3 astounding videos of Recent Zealand on 1 DVD…very kindly value for a initiate!! The first video is entitled “Naturally Its Current Zealand”…this is a documentary that takes you through the country as a typical tour may be…I found the narration informative and the video footage profitable. The second video on the DVD is all about the Native Maori people on this country. This is presented by a well spoken historian and covers the history of these people. The third video is a salubrious example of Novel Zealand’s large outdoor. “Mammoth Walks of Fresh Zealand – The Able Tasman National Park” follows a typical 5 day guide tour through this astounding coastal track. I’ve walked this South Island track and can truly say that is it is a astounding fragment of Modern Zealand. This DVD shows many aspects of Unusual Zealand that I’ve found assist succor my appreciate for this country…Highly Recommended Viewing!!!

We were so diappointed in this “ultimate” DVD. Yes, there are three sections to it but the film is looped so that we saw the same shots numerous times – people running and jumping in the water, walkers, and the same stretch of beach to mention a few examples. The Gargantuan Walks was billed on the package as 43 minutes in length and our DVD player registered it at 40 minutes. This is an example of how the makers have tried to create it sound better than is was. The quality of the film wasn’t the best either and we have a proper player and TV. Some info was okay but there are other travelogs out there that are far better than this one. Not worth it.

Menace II Society is the chronicle of Caine (Tyrin Turner) a young man living in Watts, Los Angeles. From the very beginning of the movie we follow Caine with an early flashback to his childhood to originate . Caines epic mutter is found all throughout this movie. Things begin off violent, and never really halt, from beginning to destroy there is bloodshed, but theres alot more than unprejudiced violence in this movie, Caine lives a day to day existence, and its only in the demolish that he realizes whats necessary to him- Ronnie (Jada Pinkett), her son, his family and living. Other main character is Caines best friend 0-Dog (Larenz Tate) who is young, unlit and doesnt [care], his presence in movie is really a much one, and his lack of conscience contrasts with Caines. Movie also stars Vonte Sweet, Samuel L. Jackson and Glenn Plummer. Produced by Darin Scott & the Hughes Brothers. Tyrin Turner a serene virtually unknown actor is profitable in this movie, and in my conception deserves alot more credit than he has gotten.To say this movie is impartial considerable is an understatment, and to compare it to Boyz N the Hood is unpleasant too. There are some similarities, but Menace II Society is alot darker, and wasnt made to please the masses. Maybe thats why I like it so powerful, because the tale is realistic and the makers dont play down the violence to derive mainstream appeal. Would like to talk about some of key scenes but you dont do that when writing a review for people who havnt seen the movie, all I will say is this movie is definetly worth watching, and if your like me and really bask in it, its worth having in the collection.

Menace II Society. An unique name for a movie, you contemplate on initial witness. Why II, and not to? Who’s the menace? You rob up the box. There’s a narrate of two shadowy kids on the front. OK, you read summary. It doesn’t yell you powerful. So, by this point intrigued, you rent it. Safe for you.

Menace starts out in a convience store. There’s confrontation, and soon, two people are expressionless. The gunman is smiling and opening the register. His friend, Kane, screams at him and shivers with alarm. We disappear, and open the chronicle of Kane’s life.

If you’re the average white person living in America, what you hear in rap music and gape on the news must be very distant from you.

Allen and Albert Hughes grapple us with their genius storytelling skills, and speedily, exhibit us what we’re so net not to know. The daily living, the blood, the drugs, the not caring. What do these mean? The main character, Kane, is mixed up in all of it.

To himself, he wants out- map out- of his hoodlum life. Externally however, he wants in. He’s never shot anybody, he’s the natty one. But he sells drugs. He knows how to destroy someone. He’s been friends with people who have. Here we gape his internal struggle to secure out in ravishing visual perspective.

The film itself has an expert map about it of opening our eyes to the culture, the environment, the lack of consequences, the police brutality- All of it, while collected maintaining assemblence of structure in where it wants to go.
Most of this movie is painful to inspect. Seeing Kane plunge down his path of righteousness and commit sins he scoffed his brethren for commiting fair days earlier. Seeing innocent lives be torn by misunderstanding. Seeing utterly meanless death. It should pain to watch- the directors made obvious of it- that’s why it’s so poignant.
The aforementioned sins that Kane commits jump into his future as well. Every time he has a chance to speed, he’s pulled moral help into the circle by something he himself did. As Kane matures and finds his plot, the circle flows into it. It’s reminicent of Michael Corleone in The Godfather.
Some other noticible traits of the film- it’s incredibly stylistic when it wants to be, but graphically gritty others. Also, it does a well-behaved job of displaying irony- like a scene when Kane and friend lunge down the street speaking of how the Bible won’t support them- with crosses dangling from their necks. The consume of fades, especially toward the beginning of the film, is well-timed and welcome.
Maybe I’m corrupt. Maybe Menace II Society is a worthless allotment of garbage about violence far from home. Maybe we don’t need to eye it. But that violence is real- and it’s not so far away. I don’t contemplate I’m defective. I deem, that after this movie is finished, you’ll be very jubilant you rented it.
